Mealime says it will shut down on October 21, 2026. Export while you can still sign in, and keep the downloaded ZIP as your own backup. You can import that saved ZIP later, even after Mealime is unavailable.
This walkthrough is for people switching their meal planning from Mealime to supperz. The exporter works in a desktop browser, and the final recipes sync into the supperz app on your phone.
What you'll need
- A computer running Chrome or Microsoft Edge and access to your Mealime account.
- A supperz account, or the option to create one when the import page opens.
- The supperz mobile app to finish syncing your recipes. Android is available on Google Play; iPhone release notifications are available here.
Step 1. Install the free Mealime exporter
Install the supperz Mealime Exporter on your computer. We'll show the best option for your browser, and you can switch to another browser if you prefer.
You'll need a computer for this step. Open this guide in desktop Chrome or Edge to install the exporter, then finish importing your recipes on your phone.
Using a different browser?
After installing, open the browser's Extensions menu and select supperz Mealime Exporter. Pinning it to your toolbar can make it easier to find.
Step 2. Connect your Mealime account
- Select Connect to Mealime in the exporter.
- Sign in through the Mealime window that opens. The exporter specifically needs my.mealime.com, not another Mealime web address.
- Wait for the exporter to check your recipes and show the available counts. If it does not detect your session, choose Check for recipes again.
You sign in directly to Mealime in your browser. Your Mealime password and session token are not included in the recipe export.
Step 3. Export your favourites and personal recipes
- Leave Include photos in my local backup selected if you want available personal recipe pictures preserved.
- Select Export my recipes.
- The exporter downloads a ZIP file named something like mealime-recipes-YYYY-MM-DD.zip and should open the supperz recipe importer automatically with your recipes ready to review.
This is your independent backup. Do not delete it once the supperz import opens. It's also your fallback if you need to repeat the transfer or check an incomplete import.
Step 4. Review and save your recipes
On supperz.com/import, check the detected favourites, custom recipes, any available photos and warnings. If the exporter filled this page automatically, you do not need to choose the ZIP again.
Sign in or create a supperz account when prompted and save the import online. If you're already signed in, this part may happen automatically. You can also download the converted supperz JSON backup instead of saving online.
Step 5. Open supperz and let it sync
Open an up-to-date supperz app on your phone and sign in with the same supperz account used on the importer. A saved online import is applied through account sync when the app opens. Your existing supperz library and plans are preserved.
If you downloaded a converted JSON file instead, open Settings → Import recipe backup in the app and choose that file. You do not need to re-export from Mealime for this.
What transfers from Mealime?
| Mealime data | What to expect in supperz |
|---|---|
| Saved favourites | supperz reviews your saved favourites and matches them with available recipes where possible. Some favourites may not have a match. |
| Personal or custom recipes | Imported into your personal recipe library with available notes and photos. |
| Recipe images | Available personal recipe photos can be included in the export. |
| Mealime account and login | Not transferred. Use a separate supperz account. |
| Dietary settings and dislikes | Set these up again in supperz. |
| Full previous meal-plan history | Not transferred. |
Free and Pro accounts: All imported custom recipes are kept. Free users can open up to five custom recipes; additional ones appear locked until Pro is enabled. You can review this before deciding whether to subscribe.
This is a transfer of supported recipe information, not a copy of every Mealime screen or a transfer of the Mealime catalogue. supperz is independent from Mealime.
If the automatic transfer doesn't work
- Check your Downloads folder for the mealime-recipes ZIP file.
- Visit supperz.com/import, select Choose a recipe export file, and upload the ZIP manually.
- Review the results, then save to your account or download the converted JSON file.
- If the ZIP didn't download, return to the exporter and retry. If the exporter offers Retry automatic transfer, use it without exporting again.
- If anything is missing, compare the counts, keep the original ZIP, and contact supperz support with the warning message. Avoid sharing your personal backup publicly.
Imports saved online are temporary until your app applies them, so open the app soon after saving. Keep your downloaded ZIP for longer-term safekeeping.
Frequently asked questions
Mealime to supperz migration FAQ
Can I transfer all my Mealime data to supperz?
No. The exporter helps save supported favourites, personal recipes, and available personal recipe images. Your Mealime login, preferences and full meal-plan history do not move with them. Some favourites may not match.
Do I need a computer to export from Mealime?
Yes. The exporter runs in desktop Chrome or Edge. Once you have saved the import to your supperz account, you can finish on Android or iPhone when the app is available.
What if the automatic import doesn't open?
Use your downloaded ZIP. Open supperz.com/import, choose the file manually, and save the converted recipes. You can also retry the automatic transfer from the extension.
Is there a Safari exporter?
A Safari version is awaiting review. It is not available through a public Safari installation link yet. Chrome and Edge have extension listing links above.
Can I wait until after Mealime closes?
Don't wait to export. Mealime has announced an October 21, 2026 shutdown. The exporter depends on access to Mealime, but a ZIP you already saved can be imported into supperz later.
